The entire household is being badly squeezed by a seasonal cold.

Complaints are high.

Long-suffering looks are high.

Inspiration is low.

There's a birthday to celebrate tomorrow, though, so we will all rally and put our party hats on at rakish angles.

Now, to find a birthday cake recipe that one and all can eat.

PS:  I took this photo last year when I had an Etsy shop that sold vintage goods.  It spoke to me as I sniffed and coughed my way through my albums looking for something pretty to describe our sad fates.
