Happy New Year one and all!

This will be a great year, I can just feel it. And why wouldn't it be, there's so much that's wonderful, fresh and new around us to celebrate.

This is our very own Prince of Peace (or Prince of Poots depending on the time of day).

Please welcome The Littlest One. He was born on November 11, 2009 at 12.28pm. The less said about the labour (other than they call it "labour" for a reason) the better. But the more said about the preciousness, wonder and absolute delight of new life, new families and new years together, however, the merrier. We are completely smitten and completely sleep deprived. Well, he's not.

Already he has changed so much. Eight weeks feels like the blink of an eye and a lifetime all in one. We've marvelled at his transformation from a tiny creature, all unfocused and floppy (not to mention our fumbling, butter-fingers first days of looking after him), to a responsive, smiling, gurgling bundle of pure gorgeousness. But I gush. Suffice it to say, we are deep in the throes of early parenthood and are lapping it up.

As my creative effort for 2009, I think we can safely say I've excelled myself. No crochet project, no pinch pot, no embroidered hoop, however well executed, is going to come close to this one. Indeed, I may coast off this effort for a while (let's face it, there's not a lot of time for much other creative work at the moment).

However, I do plan on continuing a creative life (beyond creating life, that is) and hope this year offers us all much joy and reward in our many creative endeavours. Best wishes all. The New Year lies ahead of us like a blank slate. Let it be rich with life and colour by year's end.

Edited 4 November 2010: for those keeping up, I have just deleted the full name of the baby as I've rethought how public I want that to be. Probably too little, too late, however it makes me feel better to keep it contained to friends and family from now on. He can decide for himself when he's old enough.
